Construction of the proposed Suncoast Parkway II through the Annutteliga Hammock will forever destroy
historical treasures such as the remaining area of the Etna Turpentine Camp in Homosassa's southeast corner.
The Florida Gas Transmission Company has already had a detrimental impact on some 14,000 square feet on
the most western side of the camp. Since the Etna Turpentine Camp is eligible for listing in the
National Register of Historic Places, mitigation resulted in excavating the righ-of-way area of
the FGT Company and saving all recovered artifacts.
